Backgound Story

Fostering Harmony for 100 days is a challenge on the internet to upgrade healthy usage of mobile phones.

The impact generated by public via the social media platforms of the project and the test run of the mobile phone application within 100 days will be evaluated using social media matrix which will be shared with you during the Finale of the project in 2024.

A Thoughtful Move

Data from GSMA Intelligence shows that there were 36.18 million cellular mobile connections in Sri Lanka at the start of 2023. However, note that many people around the world make use of more than one mobile connection – for example, they might have one connection for personal use, and another one for work – so it’s not unusual for mobile connection figures to significantly exceed figures for total population.

The project is a thoughtful move predominantly at this time in our country as the number of mobile connections in Sri Lanka increased by 2.7 million (+8.0 percent) between 2022 and 2023. GSMA Intelligence’s numbers indicate that mobile connections in Sri Lanka were equivalent to 165.5 percent of the total population in January 2023.
